KEY BETTING STATS

- Shoriful Islam has taken 2+ wickets for Bangladesh in each of their last three official ODIs – Bowler Milestones
BETTING ANALYSIS/TIPS For NEW ZEALAND
New Zealand boasts a perfect record of two wins from two games in the group stage so far, beating both England and Netherlands. Only Pakistan and India have managed the same feat. Captain Kane Williamson could return from injury in this match and would likely bat at number three if so, while fast bowler Tim Southee is available for selection.
Despite Williamson’s impending comeback, Rachin Ravindra will surely keep his place after scoring 174 runs across his last two innings. Consider backing not only Ravindra to score 30+ match runs (1.80) here, but also Devon Conway (1.61). The hard-hitting opener is known for his boundary-hitting ability, striking over 4.5 fours against England and Netherlands, so back Conway to achieve the same feat in this one (2.00) via the ‘Batter Total Match Fours’ market.
MA Chidambaram Stadium can offer heavy assistance for spin bowlers and the last match on this ground saw six wickets fall to spin as India defeated Australia. Therefore, investing in New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner could prove lucrative. The in-form Santner is coming off the back of a five-wicket haul vs Netherlands and is worth backing to finish this game as New Zealand’s top bowler (5.00) once again.
BETTING ANALYSIS/TIPS For BANGLADESH
Bangladesh was beaten heavily by England in Dharamsala last time out but will hope to bounce back immediately in Chennai on a pitch that should aid their strengths, which lie primarily within their spin-bowling attack. Of the 19 wickets taken by the Tigers across this ICC Cricket World Cup so far, 11 of them have come via the spinners.
All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has taken four wickets across the tournament so far, most notably picking up impressive figures of 3/30 in eight overs against Afghanistan last Saturday. Backing him to take over 1.5 wickets (2.37) here has to be favored, as does a small stake on him finishing ‘Player of the Match’ (11.00) when taking into account his importance to Bangladesh with both bat and ball.
Another spinner Mahedi Hasan justified his selection for the England game by taking four wickets, albeit at a cost of 71 runs as opposition batters looked to target him. New Zealand could do the same, but that may only increase his wicket-taking threat, so backing Mahedi to finish as Bangladesh’s top bowler (5.00) looks like a shrewd move. While Hossain Shanto was dismissed for 0 vs England, he still boasts 328 runs across his last five innings. Back him to get back on track with an individual score of over 23.5 runs.
CRICKET 8’S EXPERT PREDICTION
New Zealand have recent experience when it comes to facing Bangladesh, having beaten them 0-2 in a three-match ODI series last month in Mirpur. Since then, the Black Caps are yet to lose in 50-over cricket, underlining their excellent recent form and they are only set to get stronger with the likes of Kane Williamson and Tim Southee returning to the fold. Despite Bangladesh’s obvious spin-bowling threat, New Zealand comes into this game as a firm favorite.
Mitchell Santner is expected to be a key performer once again for New Zealand. The 31-year-old has prior experience of playing at MA Chidambaram Stadium, having represented Chennai Super Kings at the 2023 IPL and conditions should be ideally suited to his style of bowling. Full of confidence and against a Tigers batting line-up dismissed for just 227 last time out, Santner is well worth backing to be among the wickets again.
TIP
MITCHELL SANTNER TO TAKE 2+ WICKETS (1.90)
