New Zealand boasts a perfect record of two wins from two games in the group stage so far, beating both England and Netherlands. Only Pakistan and India have managed the same feat. Captain Kane Williamson could return from injury in this match and would likely bat at number three if so, while fast bowler Tim Southee is available for selection.
Despite Williamson’s impending comeback, Rachin Ravindra will surely keep his place after scoring 174 runs across his last two innings. Consider backing not only Ravindra to score 30+ match runs (1.80) here, but also Devon Conway (1.61). The hard-hitting opener is known for his boundary-hitting ability, striking over 4.5 fours against England and Netherlands, so back Conway to achieve the same feat in this one (2.00) via the ‘Batter Total Match Fours’ market.
MA Chidambaram Stadium can offer heavy assistance for spin bowlers and the last match on this ground saw six wickets fall to spin as India defeated Australia. Therefore, investing in New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner could prove lucrative. Bangladesh was beaten heavily by England in Dharamsala last time out but will hope to bounce back immediately in Chennai on a pitch that should aid their strengths, which lie primarily within their spin-bowling attack. Backing him to take over 1.5 wickets (2.37) here has to be favored, as does a small stake on him finishing ‘Player of the Match’ (11.00) when taking into account his importance to Bangladesh with both bat and ball.
Another spinner Mahedi Hasan justified his selection for the England game by taking four wickets, albeit at a cost of 71 runs as opposition batters looked to target him.
